Bouquet from wedding florist Errismore flowers

Our 2019 bride, Lauren, tells us more about choosing her wedding florist.

I’m not sure about any other brides-to-be out there but I am by no means an expert when it comes to flowers or floristry – let alone wedding flowers! I knew we needed to speak to a few wedding florists to get an idea of what we would need.  The list seemed endless – bouquets, button holes, table centrepieces and so on! We needed to know what flowers would be suitable for the time of year and what we could realistically afford.

You can easily do a Google search for any local wedding florists, but it’s so hard to visualise what your wedding flowers could look like. That’s why I would definitely recommend visiting wedding fairs or venue open days. You can see as many beautiful flower arrangements as possible all in one place. Pinterest or Instagram are great starting point for inspiration but seeing a beautiful bridal bouquet or table centre arrangement in person is something else!

Finding Errismore Flowers

We’ve built up quite a few contacts for wedding florists from visiting so many wedding fairs. We hadn’t decided on anybody until my mum and I went to a fair at the Kettering Park Hotel earlier this year. That’s where we met Sarah from Errismore Flowers whose stand really caught our eye! There were beautiful bouquets featuring vibrant purple roses, gypsophila and greenery, finished with succulents and wheat – something I had never actually seen before! I love the idea of using succulents in our wedding flowers. Sarah was also really friendly and very passionate about what she does. So of course I put down my details to receive more information and I knew I would be in touch when we needed to book our florist.

As it turns out, I received a text a few days later from Sarah to confirm that I had won a competition. I had won my bridal bouquet – I’m sure fate played a small part in this! That’s another great reason to visit wedding fairs; some suppliers will hold competitions or have discounts exclusive to visitors of that particular wedding fair. You could end up saving yourself a fair bit of money!

Choosing our flowers

I wanted to wait a few months before booking the first appointment, just so we could decide exactly on what we wanted and could agree on the overall colour scheme. I love putting together a mood board so this was actually a very easy job for me! My mum and sister (a.k.a. Maid of Honour) came along to the appointment with Sarah for support. We went through all the details of our wedding day and everything we would need to make our day complete. I can’t wait to see our flowers set up at Kelmarsh Hall – they will complement the different colours of Kelmarsh beautifully!

Just over a year to go…
